Purex 3-in-1 Laundry Sheets

Posted by Frank Ranu of Ranu's Reviews on June 4, 2009 at 11:13 PM

I have to admit that I was extremely hesitant to shell out $6.99 for a Purex product--especially one that promises to clean, soften and rid my clothes of static cling. Amazing how fast a sale at Shoprite coupled with a manufacturer's coupon helped ease my fears.

Now I have been surrounded by laundry my entire life, however, I didn't have to do it for myself until my parents retired (really more like abandoned--but I'm not bitter) about15 years ago. I've done laundry in laundromats, relatives' homes, myhome , on vacation and even once got busy in a Burger King bathroom--so this domesticated husband knows a thing or two about loads!

Let's Test this Sheet Out

With a full day of laundry ahead of me, I figured it was time to try these detergent-infused dryer sheets--with fabric softener. As I tossed the first sheet in the washing machine, I saw the look of fear on my bottle of Tide and I swear a tear rolled down the girl's face on the Downy Fabric Softener bottle, as they both just sat their idly on the shelf.

I gazed into the mouth of the washer and nothing was happening. I'm no member of Mensa, but shouldn't there be some frigging bubbles? Then all of a sudden, the bottom of my machine started to look like a canister of fizzy lifting drink as the glorious bubbles kept rising. In went the clothes and it was time to see if the marketing folks at Purex were full of sheet!

The clothes came out and were clean. They didn't reak of the usual fabric softener smell, but they had a nice, neutral aroma. Kind of like my clothes just came back from a laundry service in Switzerland. So far, so good.

C'mon Baby Light My Dryer

It was now time to put the clothes and the Purex Complete 3-in-1 Laundry Sheet in the dryer. My sheet was lifeless as all the detergent color had disappeared into the belly of my washing machine. All that was left was the teal, anti-static stripe on top. I chucked all the wet clothes and Purex sheet into the dryer. I couldn't even bear to look at the Bounce dryer sheets on the shelf--it was as if I was committing "laundultery."

The buzzer sounded and I quickly took the clothes out of the dryer. All the clothes came out one by one--no static cling! Again, there was not that overbearing smell that I have been programmed to accept as clean.

The End Result

I am going to start this off by saying that I am a huge fan of Tide detergent, Downy fabric softener and Bounce dryer sheets. Normally I do not detract from the sacred trio when it comes to doing laundry for my family--until now!

I did not see any noticeable difference between each type of load and I did a lot: darks, colors, whites, towels, sheets, comforters--plus I tried cold, warm and hot water!

This product will not only save you money, but it will also save you shelf space in your home. So throw out those Costco-size bottles of detergent and fabric softener, and trade them in for a nice, lightweight box of Purex Complete 3-in-1 Laundry Sheets.

Frank! You are SO right about these little laundry wonders! I will never go back to the heavy bottles of detergent again! I am so glad to stop adding all these huge plastic bottles to the landfill. I have had great success using them on all types of laundry and recommend them to anyone. Purex recently offered a free sample from their website. Try them!
